Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament Deadline Draws Near
The 17th
annual Ephrata Invitational Wiffle Ball Tournament, hosted
by the Ephrata Baseball Association, is quickly
approaching and time is running out to register your team
to compete in this year’s event. Deadline for entry in
all three circuits closes on Friday, February 12th
at 9:00 pm. To register your team or to get more
information on this year’s Indoor War, including
tournament rules, history, records and more, log onto
www.mountshardball.com/WiffleHome.htm.
Returning to
the tournament schedule is the always exciting Dairy Queen
Dinger Derby, a home run hitting contest sponsored by
Dairy Queen of Ephrata that promises to generate lots of
interest. DQ Derby participants from the Rookie, Junior,
and Senior Divisions will be competing to see who will
break some of the all-time Derby records, and to find out
who will be crowned this year’s Dinger Duke. Another
feature that continues to add “flavor” to the Indoor War
is the catered barbecue pit featuring authentic
slow-smoked brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and more from
Lil’ Bevo’s BBQ. Combined with the traditional concession
stand, this feature offers players and spectators with a
choice of light fare or affordable sit-down barbecue
platters. This year’s “Friday Night Special” is Lil’
Bevo’s $10 smoked prime rib platter which was featured on
this past season’s “Cooking For Class” on Blue Ridge Cable
11.
A number of
other activities are also being planned to supplement the
main attraction, the two-day Wiffle Ball Tournament, which
will take place on February 19-20th at the Ephrata Middle
School. This year’s tournament currently has openings for
team entry in the Rookie Circuit (grades 5 and under), the
Junior Circuit (grades 6-8),and the Senior Circuit (grades
9-12).
