Overview
The Super "Sonic" Speed Pitch will determine the fastest
Wiffle®
Ball throwers in Ephrata. There will be a winner for each circuit.
The Super "Sonic" Speed Pitch is sponsored by
SONIC® with all
proceeds benefiting the Ephrata Baseball Association and the Ephrata
High School Baseball Booster Club.
Qualifying Round
Each participant will pay $1 for three balls and throw the balls
into a net while a JUGS®
radar gun measures the velocity of the pitch. The highest recorded
score of the three balls will be noted. The two participants with
the highest scores for each circuit will advance to the championship
round. Participants may enter the qualifying round multiple times,
but two distinct participants will advance to the championship
round. In the event of ties, there will be a pitch-off immediately
preceding the Championship Round.
“Guess the Gas” Challenge
After the second throw in the qualifying round a participant will be
asked to predict the velocity of the third pitch or “Guess the gas”.
If the prediction is correct, the participant will be allowed to
throw three additional balls and the participant will win a coupon
for items at SONIC®
of Ephrata. Once the participant wins the opportunity to throw
three additional pitches, the process repeats itself (i.e., the
fastest throw will be recorded and the participant may predict the
velocity of the third pitch, with the opportunity to win another
coupon courtesy of SONIC®
and to throw three additional pitches).
Championship Round
The championship round will consist of each participant throwing
three balls. The fastest throw will be recorded. The
participant with the fastest throw in each circuit will be crowned
the 2007 Super "SONIC®"
Speed Pitch Champion. |
